Sharara oil field can produce more than 300,000 barrels of crude oil per day at its full capacity, contributing roughly one-third of the oil-rich country's production.
NOC operates the field in a joint venture with 4 European oil and gas companies, namely France's Total, Spain's Repsol, Norway’s Equinor and Austria's OMV.
The onshore oilfield, however, has witnessed disruptions in the production several times due to the intervention by the armed groups since 2011.
