Former president of OAO oil company Rosneft. Doctor of Technical Sciences, professor, USSR State prize winner. Born on February, 7, 1939 in Magnitogorsk (Chelyabinsk region). Profession - engineer-technologist. In 1961 graduated from Kirov Kazan Chemical-Technological Institute. Moreover, graduated from Academy of public sciences of KPSU. Upon graduation from Kazan Institute worked from 1961 to 1965 on a Sverdlovsk plant as a chief engineer-technologist. From 1965 to 1971 was head of production department, then chief engineer on a plant in Minsk region. In 1967 joined KPSU, in 1991 left. From 1971 to 1979 worked as a head of the department, then chief engineer of Okhtinsk association Plastpolymer (Leningrad). From 1979 to 1984 was an instructor, then a consultant of the chemical department of KPSU. In 1984 became referent of KPSU secretary. In 1989 appointed to the post of Minister of USSR Chemical Industry. From 1989 to 1991 - Deputy of USSR Supreme Soviet. From 1991 was chemical production Union president, International chemical federation president. In 1994 was appointed head of RF Government Industrial Department. From August, 1996 to March, 1997 was Minister of RF Industry. In April, 1997 was appointed president of oil company Rosneft and chairman of its board of directors. In May, 1998 was removed from this post.
