Born in Omsk.
Graduated from Omsk chemical technical school and from the All-Union Institute of textile and light industry. Worked at the Omsk oil-refining plant.
In 1993 - appointed deputy, and in 1995 - acting general director of the plant.
Since November, 1995 to August, 1996 - occupied the post of general director of the plant.
In March, 1996 - appointed first vice-president of oil company 'Sibneft'.
In November, 1997 - appointed acting Chairman of the company`s board of directors.
