He was born on August, 15, 1940 in Murmansk. Father - Surikov Alexandr Ivanovich (born 1914). Mother - Surikova Valentina Nikolayevna (born 1917). Wife - Surikova Ludmila Kuzminichna (born 1940). Sons - Alexandr (born 1968), Yuri (born 1971).
He graduated from the Saratov Politechnical Institute with the qualification 'engineer-constructor of bridges and tonnels'.
Upon graduation from the Institute he worked at the Zavyalovsk road-constructing department of the Altaidorstroitrest of the RSFSR Ministry of the construction and operation of highways (1966-1969). During these three years he rose from the craftsman and work superintendent to the department head.
In 1969-1976 - head of the Altaidorstroitrest road-constructing department. In 1976 he was invited to head the Altai regional department of the highway construction and operation. He occupied this post for 9 years (1976-1985). 1985-1990 - deputy Chairman of the Altai regional executive Committee.
In 1990 he became General director of the constructing-industrial concern 'Altaistroi'. In 1991 he was elected in the Altai regional people`s deputies Soviet and became its Chairman. In 1994 he headed the Altai regional Legislative Conference and became member of the Federation Soviet of the RF Federal Meeting.
In the elections of the Administration Head of the Altai region he received the majority of votes.
He was awarded several orderd and medals.
He is the member of the International Academy of Informatization, the author of a number of publications in the central and local mass-media.
His hobbies are sports (weight lifting, athletics), reading (historical literature and science fiction).
He lives and works in Barnaul.
