Since January this year, the Kochubeyevskaya Wind Farm has been supplying electricity and power to the wholesale electricity and power market and has become the 2nd completed project of NovaWind (the Rosatom’s division responsible for wind energy projects), and the largest operating wind farm in Russia.
The Kochubeyevskaya Wind Farm in the Stavropol Krai with an installed capacity of 210 MW consists of 84 wind turbine generators.
Local content of facility equipment, as confirmed by the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation, amounts to 65%.
Alexander Korchagin, NovaWind CEO, said:
- Successful experience in wind farm construction and operation, the implemented plans to establish serial production of wind turbine components and assembly units in the Russia, an effective supply chain, in particular with the involvement of the State Corporation enterprises, enabled us to reach the system level of wind energy project implementation and complete the project for the Kochubeyevskaya Wind Farm construction in 2 years;
- The Stavropol Krai has become our key region;
- This is largely due to the interest and support from the local authorities.
Rosatom is currently implementing a program for wind farm construction at three more sites in the Stavropol Krai and the Rostov Region.
In total, until 2024, Rosatom will commission wind farms with a total capacity of approximately 1.2 GW.
