This was stated by Vice-Chairman, Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, who was speaking at an extraordinary online meeting of foreign ministers of the Organization of Turkic States, at which the situation in Kazakhstan was discussed, the website of the foreign ministry of Turkmenistan reports.
R. Meredov said:
- Turkmenistan, as a neutral state recognized by the world community, is ready to provide any support to the people of Kazakhstan in the economic, social and humanitarian spheres
- Turkmenistan is ready to start exporting natural gas to Kazakhstan starting in March 2022
Speaking about the events that have taken place in Kazakhstan in recent days, the Vice-Chairman especially noted that Turkmenistan is interested in the soonest normalization of the situation in this country, in the further stable socio-political and socio-economic development of Kazakhstan.
The Kazakhstan–Turkmenistan border is 413 km in length and runs from the Caspian Sea to the tripoint with Uzbekistan.
Kazakhstan is the largest oil producer in Central Asia, with the 12th-highest proven crude oil reserves in the world.
Kashagan, the 5th-largest reserve in the world, is expected to play a major role in Kazakhstan's future oil production, with projected production of 450 000 barrels per day (kb/d) by 2025 and 955 kb/d by 2040.
