US Sponges Up Iraq

Iraq reappeared among the top five crude suppliers to the United States in November for the first time since the US-led invasion in March.

According to EIA data, US imports from Iraq averaged 706,000 b/d, accounting for about two-thirds of Iraq's average 1.1 million b/d exports from mid-September through mid-October.

In total, the US imported almost 9.5 million b/d of crude in November, steady from October. Saudi Arabia was the top supplier with 1.664 million b/d, followed by Canada (1.639 million b/d), Mexico (1.611 million b/d) and Venezuela (1.444 million b/d).
