US-UK meeting another step forward....
In another important step in Libya's relations with the outside world, Libyan officials are to meet with US and UK officials in London this Friday. The visit has been confirmed by US State Department spokesman Richard Boucher.
Mr. Boucher said, "this is the result of positive steps that Libya has been taking." US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs William Burns will represent the United States at the meeting.
Boucher said a joint US/UK team, working with International Atomic Energy Agency inspectors, was in Libya last month and a similar team will soon return to continue the work.
Said Boucher: "The president's made clear that Libya's recent actions open the door to the possibility of better relations between the US and Libya.
"As the Libyan government takes these essential steps and demonstrates its seriousness, good faith will be returned," he added.
