Ukraine Sees Decision as Mutually Beneficial

'The decision to use the Odessa-Brody pipeline to pump Caspian oil in the European direction is strategically important for the Ukraine and is aimed at safeguarding its national interests', the Ukrainian deputy prime minister for fuel and energy, Andriy Klyuyev, said commenting on the government's position.

He added that the Odessa-Brody project clearly takes into account Russian interests. Ukraine offered the Russian oil company TNK-BP an economically efficient way of transporting their oil to the Odessa port through the Prydniprovskyy oil pipeline.

Klyuyev stressed that the decision on the direct use of the pipeline takes into account the interests of all the parties involved.
