Rosneft has proposed to the Sakhalin-1 consortium to buy early oil from the project before putting the permanent oil transportation scheme into operation, said President of Rosneft Serge Bogdanchikov.

The consortium can produce early oil in the area where the Yastreb drilling rig is operating and where there are wells. Rosneft can buy up to 1.5 million tons of oil. Participants of the consortium expect that the platform will start working on the field in 2006 and the consortium would start commercial oil production.

Participants of Sakhalin-1 are ExxonMobil, Sodeco, ONGC, Rosneft and Rosneft-Sahalinmorneftegaz.
