The UN will ask Iraq's governing bodies to provide evidence for recent claims that the oil-for-food programme it ran was corrupted by Saddam Hussein.
A UN official said the body intended to write this week to Iraq's Governing Council (IGC) and the Coalition Provisional Authority (CPA) seeking documentation showing any wrongdoing on the part of its officials.
