Russia Offers $2 Billion for Uzbek Ventures

The head of the Russian Oil and Gas Union, Yuriy Shafranik, has said Russia is ready to invest up to $2 billion in Uzbek-Russian joint projects for extracting oil and gas. Mr. Shafranik arrived in Tashkent on a working visit on Thursday.
According to Shafranik, he met with Uzbek President Islam Karimov. Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the oil and gas industry, in particular in the field of advanced drilling technologies, was discussed during the constructive conversation, he said.
