Gold exchange plans to attract 'half of the global gold trade'....
Dubai is set to open the first Arab diamond exchange by April 2004. The diamond exchange will be opened as part of the UAE's free zone for gold, metals and commodities, and will be aimed at organising the diamond trade in Dubai according to international standards.
Analysts estimate the diamond trade in the emirate at some $700 million. Dubai's diamond exchange will be followed by the opening of exchanges for gold, aluminium, sugar and tea, the Dubai Metals and Commodities Centre (DMCC) said.
