The Kazakh KazMunayGaz national oil and gas company has submitted a feasibility study for the construction of the Atasu-Alashankou oil pipeline. The proposed pipeline will connect western Kazakhstan with China.
"Together with our Chinese counterparts, we have prepared a feasibility study of investment which was offered to us, and we submitted (the feasibility study) to the (Kazakh) government. We think that an interministerial commission will consider it in the near future. When the feasibility study is approved we will get ready to begin the construction of this oil pipeline (Atasu-Alashankou) in the summer of this year, in July-August," the president of KazMunayGaz, Uzakbay Karabalin, said at a news conference held in Astana on Monday, February 23rd.
The pipeline's length will be 3,000 km and its construction will cost about 3bn dollars.
