UK Getting Desperate

The UK will become a net gas importer in five to eight years due to the decrease of domestic gas output. Some relief is on the way as Gazeksport, the exports sales arm of the Russian gas giant Gazprom, is ready to export 8-10bn cu.m. to the UK annually, Gazeksport's Director-General Aleksandr Medvedev told a press conference .

In the next five to eight years Gazprom plans to increase its gas exports to the UK, with the company's gas export share accounting for 20-25 per cent of all gas consumption in the UK, he said.
