In a surprising speech, Libyan leader Moammar Kadhafi urged the US, France, Russia, China, Pakistan, India and all other countries possessing nuclear weapons to get rid of them.
Kadhafi reiterated that Libya has voluntarily abandoned its Weapons of Mass Destruction programmes without any pressure.
The world is nowadays caught in an atmosphere of fear with the upsurge of fundamentalist movements, a fear which Kadhafi said was harboured by the danger to see nuclear weapons fall in the hands of these extremist groups.
The danger to see nuclear weapons in the hands of these extremists groups that "will not hesitate to use them without any distinction" is definitely looming on international security, he added.
He further revealed the existence of another danger also looming on international security, which consist in the acquisition by these extremist groups of a smallpox virus, great quantities of which are stored in the US and Russia.
What would be the situation in Afghanistan for example if this country were a nuclear power and that a group like the Taliban got hold of power? The Libyan leader wondered.
