According to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan will become a transit country for the transportation of Kazakh gas to the world market.
Mr. Aliyev did not rule out that Kazakh gas will be transported via the South Caucasus pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum, whose construction will begin at the end of this year and will be completed in 2006.

Baku and Astana are presently putting the finishing touches on an intergovernmental agreement on Kazakhstan's joining of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline project.
