Qatar's 'Artificial Island' Underway
$2.5 billion project to be completed by 2006...
The Qatarian Tourism Authority (QTA) has officially presented the $2.5 billion 'Pearl of the Gulf' project that envisions the construction of an artificial island off the coast of Doha's West Bay Lagoon.
The project will be carried out by Qatar's largest private shareholding company, United Development Company, with the support of the government and QTA in particular.
