Chernomyrdin also warned that US involvement could have dire consequences. "Whatever can be of use to them, (the Americans) immediately take into their sphere of interest, and there is inevitably either a mess or blood there," he said.

Russia Criticizes US Involvement
US heightens activity days before election...
Russia's ambassador to the Ukraine, former prime minister Viktor Chernomyrdin, has blasted the United States for allegedly increasing its presence in that former Soviet republic ahead of a presidential election scheduled there next autumn.
Chernomyrdin said that Washington had sent a "task force" to Ukraine to assist in organizing the vote. "An American task force has landed in Ukraine. They are traveling around the regions to help prepare the elections," according to Chernomyrdin. "They are running all over Ukraine. I could not even have imagined anything like this."
Chernomyrdin also warned that US involvement could have dire consequences. "Whatever can be of use to them, (the Americans) immediately take into their sphere of interest, and there is inevitably either a mess or blood there," he said.
