The Tatarstan Metro

Nearly $490 million will be spent to fund the ongoing construction of a metro in the Tatarstan capital of Kazan, Tatarstani Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Shvetsov announced.

The new metro will be opened in August, 2005. The length of the first metro line will total 11.3 kilometers. 7 metro stations will be constructed.

The Czech automaker Skoda signed an agreement with Tatarstani authorities on deliver 40 metro cars to the capital of Tatarstan.
