The Odd Couple

The premiers of Turkey and Ukraine have discussed prospects for implementing joint projects on Iraq's rebuilding process, during Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to Kiev.

Erdogan arrived in Kiev late on Thursday for talks aiming at boosting political and trade ties between the two countries with top Ukrainian officials. After having been received by Ukrainian President Leonid Kucma, Erdogan and the Turkish delegation held talks with Ukrainian premier Viktor Yanukovych.

"The two countries could cooperate on Iraq's reconstruction process," said Erdogan after a meeting of about half an hour with his Ukrainian counterpart Yanukvych.

Yanukvych also expressed that the two countries could find ways to implement joint projects in Iraq.
