Pakistan Moving Away from Petroleum»

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has directed his government to facilitate the initiation of projects for the generation of hydro-electricity in both public and private sectors.

The President stressed upon the need for creating an enabling environment for the improvement of the power sector in order to introduce competition so that electricity was made accessible, affordable and reliably available to the people of Pakistan.

President Musharraf made these remarks while chairing a meeting in Rawalpindi, which reviewed progress on the power sector in the country.
