Jordan Prepares for Sell-Off

The Jordanian government has initiated its plans to privatize the national electricity production and generation sector by asking interested parties to submit proposals for the acquisition of shares in the state-run Central Electric Generating Company (CEGC).

Energy Minister Azmi Khreisat stated that the government intends to sell up to 60% of its stake in CEGC. A total of 51% stake in the company will be made available for purchase by private sector enterprises and another 9% will be sold to the Social Security Corporation (SSC).

The deadline for submitting expressions of interest is May 31st.
