Russian oil magnate, former Sibneft CEO Roman Abramovich is considered to be the richest person in Great Britain, according to The Sunday Times.
Abramovich, who moved to Britain last year after purchasing London's Chelsea soccer team, is worth $7.5 billion (BD5bn).
The newspaper said his vast fortune, generated from shareholdings in oil, aluminum and pharmaceuticals companies, had knocked the Duke of Westminster into second place on the "Rich List."
The duke, who owns huge swaths of land in central London and elsewhere, is worth ё5bn, according to the survey.
The third place is occupied by Hans Rausing, the Swedish-born Tetrapak billionaire, with a fortune valued at ё4.95bn.
According to the survey, the combined wealth of Britain's richest 1,000 people has jumped from ё155.86bn in 2003 to ё202.42bn this year, a record 30 per cent increase.
