Kuwait Discovers Gas

Kuwaiti oil sources announced Monday that Kuwait has discovered natural gas for the first time ever.
Kuwait Oil Co discovered the gas some days ago in the northwestern field of Mutriba after conducting deep exploration drilling at well MU-12, the sources said.
"Initial tests showed that the MU-12 well is producing gas -- the first for Kuwait -- along with condensate measured at 50 degrees API.
Although further tests are needed, it is still considered the first ever gas discovery in Kuwait.
The well is producing from the Sudair formation at 19,000 feet.
The well, which has been closed for pressure build-up, is currently being appraised so further, extensive tests can be carried out to evaluate the potential of the discovery. "They are seeking more conclusive tests," said one of the sources noting that the find, thus far, has been kept low-key until the its potential is determined.
