Russian Workers Are Evacuated From Iraq

Thursday Russia begun to evacuate all its specialists, working in Iraq, as an Emergency Ministry airplane departed Baghdad for Moscow. This is concerned with the incident of this week, when two Russian workers of the InterEnergoServis Company, which is reconstructing the thermal power plant ?Dora? in Iraq, have been killed, and five wounded in an attack by Iraqi rebels.

The plane arrived in Baghdad with the emergency workers and physicians. In several hours it has already been flying back with 90 Russian specialists.
Earlier it was expected to evacuate 120-130 Russians, all the employees of Interenergoservis, back to Russia.

Generally, it is expected a total of 241 people are to be evacuated, according to the spokesman of Emergency Ministry. But two or three administrators have to stay in Iraq to tie up the company?s projects, he said.

Moreover, 10 Russian journalists will remain in Iraq and do not plan to leave.
