Oil and lubricant supplying firm Esso?s branch in Malaysia is likely to invest $12.63 million to build six large service stations in Malaysia but is considering selling its stations in Sarawak state on Borneo island.
The company invested $16,31million on new stations last year and would build six more in the Klang Valley, Penang and Johor states and along key highways this year, according to the chairman and chief executive Robert Fisher.
Esso and Mobil, which are part of US oil major ExxonMobil group, operate nearly 500 service stations in Malaysia and have a combined 20 percent share of the domestic retail market.
Fisher stated that high crude prices would not affect Esso?s business in Malaysia, stressing that the company based their investment on long-term potential there.
