Mutual Benefit Of Iran And Kuwait

Iran and Kuwait are looking forward to reaching an agreement on purchasing of Iran's gas by Kuwait. Kuwaiti government considers the agreement as the way to enhance bilateral cooperation.

Kuwait intends to expand seriously its natural gas sources and import more from its gas-rich neighbors to meet the country's growing electricity demands. And, the deal with Iran would also give Kuwait an alternative to its close relationship with Saudi Arabia.

As for Iran, which hopes to strengthen long-term economic and political ties with Arab Gulf states, it would be a big political achievement.

According to the Kuwait Times, Riyadh has blocked a similar natural gas import deal Kuwait tried to reach with Qatar. By reaching a deal with Iran, Kuwait won?t need Qatar and will increase its choices for natural gas suppliers.
