Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation denied a recent report of increasing petrol prices at the weekend
Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) denied a recent report of increasing petrol prices at the weekend.
NNPC?s envoy said that pump price of petrol will get to 75 naira (about 57 cents) soon.
The general manager of NNPC Public Affairs Division, Levi Ajuonuma, said in a statement that the report was absolutely false and without any foundation.
He warned marketers not to sell petrol above the approved price band set by the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency(PPPRA).
The official urged consumers not to be distracted from their daily activities "as you will continue to enjoy practical benefits of deregulation.?
Petrol price is an extremely sensitive issue in Nigeria, and the price hikes have caused major strikes that nearly paralyzed the nation. The nation's labor union has staged a four-day strike this month to protest the price hike.
