Iran said on Sunday it shut out the possibility of any meeting with US Secretary of State Colin Powell on the sidelines of an international conference on Iraq, because it considered these talks to be pointless as Powell is about to retire.
The foreign ministry also said Iran would be attending the two-day conference in Egypt to call for a withdrawal of US troops from its neighbour and issue a protest against US actions there.
