Pipelines Attacked In Iraq

An oil pipeline in northern Iraq near the refining centre of Baiji was attacked by saboteurs on Friday.

Another blast on Thursday night ripped off a section of the pipeline in the Fatha area near Baiji, near to the country?s biggest refinery, which has the capacity of 350,000 bpd.
Northern oil exports have been idle since Dec. 18, when saboteurs hit the Iraq-Turkey pipeline. It has been sabotaged several times since.

Attacks against northern oil facilities have escalated in the last two months, cutting off exports to Turkey's Ceyhan port and helping deepen a fuel and electricity crisis.
