Qatar, Kuwait To Build Pipeline Via Saudi Arabia

Qatari Minister of Energy Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiya said on Monday that Qatar and Kuwait would construct jointly a cross-border gas pipeline via Saudi Arabia.

He added Qatar is currently seeking Saudi permission in terms of the construction of the pipeline. Al-Attiya expressed hope that the permission would come soon as the project falls into the larger plan of linking together the electric grids and water networks of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. The GCC includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

The bloc has been stepping up efforts toward economic integrity and regional security cooperations during the past few years.
