Justice Exists: Khodorkovsky

Moscow?s Meshchansky Court on Wednesday acquitted Mikhail Khodorkovsky on one charge, but found him guilty of another one ? of personal tax evasion, Interfax reports.

In 1998-1999 the Yukos head falsely informed taxation bodies about providing consultations for a number of foreign companies, which gained him an illegal tax discount. In this way he failed to pay more than 54.5 million rubles, the court ruling says.

This violation can be punished by up to three years in prison.

At the same time, the court dismissed charges of document falsification as unnecessary. According to the court?s ruling, document falsification was just a means to commit tax evasion, and need not entail extra punishment.
