Now Khodorkovsky is in prison, sentenced to nine years in May for fraud and tax evasion, and awaiting for his sentence to enter into a legal force.
However, according to the Russian legislation, an imprisoned person has a right to stand for the parliament until his sentence enters into a legal force.
Now the authorities do their best to prevent Khodorkovsky form taking part in the elections, attempting to complete all procedures as soon as it can be possible.
