Chavez: Get Used To High Oil Price
The world was close to a major global energy crisis, said Chavez...
The world will have to get used to a price of crude oil to be not less than $50 a barrel, because producers are almost at the limit of production capacity, reserves are dwindling and increasing demand keeps pushing up prices, Venezuela's president Hugo Chavez said, speaking on the fringes of an Ibero-American summit.
"It will be difficult to increase production," he added.
The world was close to a major global energy crisis, said Chavez, whose country is the only Latin American member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries.
He recalled that Venezuela was reaching its limits with a share of OPEC production of 3.1 million barrels daily, of which some 1.5 million were exported to the United States.
