Kazakhstan President Nursultan Nazarbaev inaugurated Thursday a major energy project that will allow the country to export crude oil directly to China bypassing Russian territory.

He also said that it could carry Russian oil from Western Siberia, which would be a bonus for Russia considering that its own mooted pipeline to China remains on the drawing board.
