Gazprom: Gas Transit Via Ukraine To Decline

Alexander Medvedev, deputy board chairman at Gazprom, said Monday that
in the nearest four years the actual rate for the gas transit via Ukraine will be less than $1.6/ths cubic meters, than set in 2006 contract.

The tricky point is that the agreement provides for using the transit advance of $1 billion kept by Ukraine. This advance, Medvedev said, would be counted at the rate of $1.09, driving down the actual transit rate to less than $1.6 in the following four years.

The stake of Gazprombank in Rosukrenergo AG will go to Gazprom, Medvedev specified. Gazprombank and Austrian Raiffeisen Investment own the company pari passu via their subsidiaries.
