Ukraine Admitted Unsanctioned Russian Gas Siphoning

Ukraine, for the first time in the history of Russian-Ukrainian gas relations, has admitted that it is stealing Russian natural gas from the pipeline transiting gas from Russia to European countries. It has been announced by Russia?s President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, during the press conference.

?I?m glad that our Ukrainian partners told straight, that they were carrying on unsanctioned siphoning of natural gas; and the history does not conceal anything.?

At the same time, Putin expressed his dissatisfaction, connected with that fact, that Russia faced that unsanctioned activities of Ukraine without any conflicts.
Ukraine siphoned extra 34-35 million cu. m of gas per day.

?Gazprom had to increase its deliveries on 35 million cu. m of gas in order to eke out the shortfall of gas supply for West Europe, but Ukrainian workers continued to siphon that 35 million cu. m and also all extra gas, that is, it was stealing 70 million cu. m of gas per day.?

In connection with that, it?s very important for Russia to construct the North European Gas Pipeline, which will be laid on the bottom of the Baltic Sea, to avoid passing any countries.
