Yukos Boss Was Attacked and Injured In Jail

Following an incident during last weekend, the former CEO of Russian oil company Yukos, Mikhail Khodorvkovsky, has been transferred to a one-man cell in the Krasnokamensk jail in East Siberia where he is serving a term of financial abuses.

"The decision [to transfer him there] was taken to cool the passions that flared up in the wake of the situation," a source at the Federal Service for Penitentiaries said.

"This is not a penal measure of any kind, and that's why Khodorkovsky has an opportunity to communicate with his lawyers," he said.

"Re-settlement to a one-man cell can't be viewed as a penalty in any way," the source indicated.

During the weekend, Khodorkovsky got injured by a young convict after a quarrel, officials at the Federal Service for Penitentiaries told Itar-Tass.

Russian imprisoned tycoon Mikhail Khodorkovsky was attacked yesterday with knife by his cellmate.

The cellmate, injuring Khodorkovsky's face, accused the latter in the sexual harassing.

However, as Khodorkovsky refused to bring on any claims against the man, his offender will not be punished under an appropriate article of the Russian Criminal Code since.

"No final decision on the case has been taken yet," the source said.
