Gazprom said PGNiG introduced excessive gas transportation tariffs, which are higher than recommended
Gazprom said on Thursday it was dissatisfied with the refusal of its Polish partner to decrease transit fees for the Polish section of the Yamal-Europe gas pipeline.
The official reaction of Gazprom followed the statements by the Polish state-owned gas monopoly, PGNiG, which said Gazprom was partially suspending cooperation after PGNiG turned down the request for lower transit fees.
Gazprom has a 48 percent interest in the EuRoPol Gaz operator of the almost 700-kilometer pipeline, whose supervisory board met in Moscow on Tuesday. PGNiG also holds a 48 percent stake in the joint venture, plus another 4 percent via its controlling share in another company, Gas-Trading SA.
Gazprom said PGNiG introduced excessive gas transportation tariffs, which are higher than those recommended by the Polish energy regulator.
“The tariff rate for EuRoPol Gaz services for the transportation of gas should provide for non-loss financial operation without accumulating free funds not intended for goal-oriented use,” Gazprom said in a statement.
The Russian company said EuRoPol Gaz performance resulted in “a constant growth of free monetary balances with the absence of any ways of their efficient investment at the given moment”.
