Iran Threatens India to Pay More for Gas
Iran has warned India that it will strike a bilateral deal with Pakistan for gas supply
Iran has warned that it will strike a bilateral deal with Pakistan for gas supply if India does not agree to the price sought during discussions among the three countries in January.
Iran's final offer of selling 60 million standard cubic meters of gas a day to India and Pakistan stands at $4.93 per mmbtu through the $7 billion tri-nation gas pipeline. Earlier, it had sought $7.17 per mmbtu. India and Pakistan have 4 weeks to respond to Iran's offer.
India will have to pay more for its share of gas at the border with Pakistan since $4.93 per mmbtu will be the delivered price of gas at the Iran-Pakistan border. The final price for India would depend upon the transportation and transit fee through Pakistan, sources said.
