Exxon Mobil Meets Growing Demand for Paraxylene

The US oil giant Exxon Mobil Corp. said recently its chemical division will expand its Rotterdam Aromatics Plant to meet growing European demand.

The expansion, which begins this year, will make the Rotterdam plant Exxon's largest paraxylene production facility, increasing paraxylene capacity by 25 percent and benzene production capacity by 20 percent.

ExxonMobil Chemical's new unit will use the company's PxMax technology to generate less waste and reduce energy requirements, the company said.
