Gilani Seeking Saudi Oil Payment Deferrals

Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani is seeking an agreement with Saudi Arabia to defer oil payments, an aide said on Friday.

Gilani reached Madina Munawara on Friday to seek co-operation for countering the growing economic problems. The Foreign Ministry said Gilani and other Pakistani leaders would meet King Abdullah and Crown Prince Sultan, the kingdom’s Defence minister. Ministry spokesman Mohammed Sadiq said “Saudi oil facility” and economic co-operation were “on the agenda.” Gilani is expected to ask Saudi authorities to defer payments on some of Pakistan’s crude oil imports. agencies
