Despite a number of differences that have arisen recently between Russia and the UK, bilateral economic relations are developing successfully, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said during talks with UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown. The Russian leader reiterated that British investment in Russia grew almost 50 percent in January-April 2008 against the same months of the previous year, even though the volume of investment in 2007 was also considerable. Medvedev noted that he was pleased to have met Gordon Brown, adding that he was ready to discuss all bilateral issues.
In turn, Brown stressed that he intended to look at all unresolved problems. He reiterated that Russia and the UK were working jointly on the settlement of conflicts in the Middle East and Iran, as well as on a variety of other global problems, including the mortgage, financial, and food crises, and climate change.
