Russia Postpones Talks With Ukraine

Russia-Ukraine intergovernmental talks postponed for indefinite time, because of the EU-Ukraine agreement on pipelines repairs

Russia Postpones Talks With Ukraine

RIA Novosti reported Saturday, referring to some source in the Kremlin, that the talks were decided to re-schedule, but the new dates are not identified yet.

This moved was caused by the recently signed agreement on pipelines modernization signed by EU and Ukraine without Russia being invited to take part.

It was considered by Russian politicians as "violation" and "an unfriendly act" and caused negative reaction from both Russian President Medvedev and Russian PM Putin, as well as Russian Foreign Minister.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko attempted to calm the situation while on a visit to Japan on Thursday telling reporters that Russia would have a full role in the modernization of Ukraine's gas grid.
"I am certain that in the near future, all misunderstandings between Russia and the European Union will be cleared up, and Russia will become a full-fledged participant in these processes," the premier's press service quoted her as saying.
