Kremlin press center reported on September 1, 2016, that Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremonial launch of Zvezda shipyard’s 1st stage and in the floating dock laying ceremony at Zvezda shipyard (Bolshoi Kamen, Primorsky Territory).
«A large shipyard will be built in the Bolshoi Kamen Bay in the next few years to manufacture a variety of medium- and heavy-lift commercial vessels, primarily oil and gas tankers,» Putin said. «Of course, we will primarily build vessels for domestic use, for offshore mineral projects in the Russian Far East and Arctic regions and for developing the Northern Sea Route as a global transport route. We know very well that not only Russia but also its neighbors have big plans for this route, which is the most efficient route for transporting cargo between Europe and Asia. Victory at tenders for commercial shipbuilding projects must go to Russian shipyards, such as Zvezda,» he said.
Zvezda Shipyard is established at the Far Eastern Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Center (FESRC) by a consortium of Rosneftegaz, Rosneft and Gazprombank.
Rosneft is the first customer of the new shipyard having ordered 2 ice-class supply vessels. This is not the first order by Rosneft signed with Zvezda. Considering the implemented options for the last year contracts, Rosneft order is already four vessels of this type.
The pilot delivery is scheduled for 2019.
Following the 1st stage, the 2nd stage of the Zvezda complex development will follow, which is to commission a dry dock and full-cycle production shops to build large-tonnage vessels and marine facilities.
And at the end, the 3rd phase will be to put into operation production facilities for the construction of offshore drilling rigs and platforms.
When completed, the Zvezda Shipbuilding Complex will build tankers of up to 350,000 t in displacement, offshore platform units, ice class vessels, specialized vessels and other types of ships.
