Russia and Uzbekistan agreed to sign a medium-term contract on purchase of Uzbek gas


President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev on March 29, 2017, received in Tashkent CEO of Russian Gazprom Alexey Miller, who arrived in the country on working visit.

They discussed expansion of the mutually beneficial cooperation on development of the oil and gas complex in Uzbekistan, including in the framework of the programme on increasing extraction of hydrocarbons for 2017-2021.

Russia bought 6.2 billion cubic meters of gas from Uzbekistan in 2016, and plans to buy 5 billion cubic meters of gas in 2017.

A special attention was paid to the issues of cooperation in the field of preparation and training specialists.

Gazprom has actively started its activity in Uzbekistan since 2002.

In 2003, Gazprom Group began buying gas in Uzbekistan on the basis of short-term contracts between Gazprom export and Uztransgaz.

The oil company also engaged in implementation of the projects on studying and development of the fields in Hissar region of Uzbekistan, utilization of oil-associated gas and etc.

Uzbekistan has vast resources of oil and natural gas. The country also ranks among the world's largest natural gas producers.

The primary partner of Gazprom Group in Uzbekistan is National Holding Company (NHC) Uzbekneftegaz.
