Ambassador: Little progress in Minsk-Moscow oil and gas price talks yet

Minsk, November 20 - Neftegaz.RU. Minsk and Moscow have made little headway in the talks on the cost of Russian energy products for Belarus, Belarus' Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Russia Vladimir Semashko said in an interview to the Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTa has learned.

The ambassador stated that oil and gas remain among the main issues in the relations between Belarus and Russia.

«The oil and gas negotiations have brought little progress. We will have to work further,» he said. According to Vladimir Semashko, Belarus has repeated numerous times that despite the Union State and the Eurasian Economic Union, Belarusian and Russian business entities are not treated equally.

Vladimir Semashko cited KamAZ and MAZ as an example. KamAZ pays 4 cents per kWh and about $65 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas, while MAZ pays 11 cents and $276 respectively.

«Energy carriers account for a big share in the production cost. These are a priori unequal conditions. If we agree to reduce the price of gas and oil, this will help the real sector of the economy, industry, transport, agriculture, and utilities services. This will also help people,» the diplomat said.
