Nicolas Maduro ordered move of the PDVSA office from Lisbon to Moscow

Moscow, March 1 - Neftegaz.RU. Venezuelan Vice President announced at a press conference with Russian Foreign Minister, that Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro decided to close PDVSA's EU-office in Lisbon and move it to Moscow.

Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez held talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow today.  Rodruguez, who considers that her country is «the victim of an aggression by the United States,» declared that Nicolas Maduro, considered illegitimate by the European Union and 50 countries, gave instructions to close the PDVSA office in Portugal.

She said after talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow that President Maduro had ordered a European office of state oil company PDVSA to move to Moscow. «Europe does not give guarantees regarding our assets,» Rodriguez said.

«Russia will continue to assist the Venezuelan authorities in resolving social and economic problems, including through the provision of legitimate humanitarian aid,» Lavrov said.

This transfer is significant for the Maduro administration, which is desperately seeking economic resources after the fall of PDVSA's oil production and the lack of buyers after United States imposed new sanctions.

Russia and China on February 28 used their veto at the UN Security Council to block a US resolution calling for new presidential elections in Venezuela and unimpeded deliveries of humanitarian aid.
