Kazakhstan steps up the construction of integrated gas-chemical complex

Nur-Sultan, November 27 - Neftegaz.RU. Construction of the integrated gas-chemical complex Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries in western Kazakhstan is half completed, the press service of the Samruk-Kazyna Foundation said on 25 November.

“The project will be completed by 50% by the end of this year,” the press service said. The completion of the facility is planned in 2021. The project will allow producing up to 500,000 tonnes of polypropylene per year. The project will provide jobs for more than 2,000 people.

Kazakhstan has long dreamed of creating its own gas and petrochemicals. 10 years ago, the country’s authorities set the task of building an integrated gas-chemical complex in the west of the republic.

By the decision of the management of the Samruk-Kazyna Fund in June 2018, this project was transferred to the trust management of the national company KazMunayGas, after which work on the implementation of the project intensified.

By the end of 2019, the progress of the project will be 53%. For comparison – before the advent of new management, the volume of work was at the level of 6%.
